Who doesn’t love movies? The film industry feeds from our love of them: they provide entertainment and joy to millions of people around the world, and they can even manage to improve a gray day and put a smile on any face. They can make us think, love, laugh, cry, shake, and shout.
And when the award season comes, people make themselves a big pile of popcorn and sit alone, with their couples, and even with family or friends to enjoy the respective ceremonies. Who doesn’t love watching the Golden Globes, either online or via cable or satellite TV? We are, as a society, big fans of the Oscar, the Tonys, the Emmys, and any other trophy issuance night that let us comment on that actor’s hair or that actress’ beautiful dress. Oh, and their performances on the big and little screens as well!
Prestige and talent in the same night and venue
One of the most prestigious accolades that an actor, actress, director, or screenwriter can receive is the Golden Globe. It is only surpassed by the Academy Awards (The Oscars) in worldwide recognition.
The Golden Globes are awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association every year since 1944, and they represent accolades for the elite of the television and film industry, both American and international.
To be eligible for the Golden Globes award, the TV series, movie or documentary in question needs to premiere between January 1st and December 31 of the previous year. These recognitions are usually given in January as a part of a fancy, star-filled ceremony.
The most recent awards took place on The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on January 7, and it was the witness of the supremacy of “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” in the movie department (with four awards) and of Big Little Lies on the TV side, also with four statuettes.
The next ceremony in the calendar will be the 76th Golden Globe Awards, which will recognize the best in film and television in 2018. It will be held on January 6, 2019. All productions from 2018 will be eligible for participation.
